چکیده

Background Autopsy studies [1,2] and x-ray CT in older subjects with suspected disease [3] have demonstrated increasing coronary vessel thickness with age. There is, however, a need for a radiation-free non-invasive technique for use in longitudinal studies of coronary vessel wall morphology. Recently 3D MR coronary vessel wall imaging with retrospective beat-to-beat respiratorymotion-correction (B2B-RMC)[4], which uses 3D low resolution data acquired immediately before the main imaging data to retrospectively correct respiratory motion, has demonstrated great promise [5]. We propose that 3D high resolution MR with B2B-RMC can demonstrate coronary vessel wall thickening with age in healthy subjects.

Visualization of Coronary Wall Atherosclerosis in Asymptomatic Subjects and Patients with Coronary Artery Disease Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is sensitive to early atherosclerotic changes such as positive remodeling in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). We assessed prevalence, quality, and extent of coronary atherosclerosis in a group of healthy subjects compared to patients with confirmed CAD. METHODOLOGY Twenty-two patients with confirmed CAD (15M, 7F, mean age 60.4 ± 10.4 yea...

Gadolinium Enhanced MR Coronary Vessel Wall Imaging at 3.0 Tesla

Purpose. We evaluated the influence of the time between low-dose gadolinium (Gd) contrast administration and coronary vessel wall enhancement (LGE) detected by 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in healthy subjects and patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Materials and Methods. Four healthy subjects (4 men, mean age 29 ± 3 years and eleven CAD patients (6 women, mean age 61 ± 10 years)...

Reproducibility of 3D free-breathing magnetic resonance coronary vessel wall imaging.

AIMS Although the coronary artery vessel wall can be imaged non-invasively using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the in vivo reproducibility of wall thickness measures has not been previously investigated. Using a refined magnetization preparation scheme, we sought to assess the reproducibility of three-dimensional (3D) free-breathing black-blood coronary MRI in vivo. METHODS AND RESULTS MR...

Assessment of coronary wall thickening in autosomal dominant hyper- immunoglobin E syndrome (AD-HIES) using TRAPD-MRI

Background Autosomal dominant hyper-IgE (AD-HIES), also called Job’s syndrome, is a rare primary immunodeficiency caused by dominant mutations in STAT3. AD-HIES is characterized by elevated levels of IgE, an ineffective immune response to several infectious agents, and connective tissue and arterial abnormalities. To date, coronary artery evaluation in AD-HIES patients has been limited to lumen...

Coronary vessel wall thickening in asymptomatic young HIV-infected patients vs. controls using phase-sensitive dual inversion recovery (PS-DIR) MRI

Background HIV-infected patients demonstrate premature and more severe vascular disease relative to controls. Therefore, development of a reproducible non-invasive vascular imaging biomarker in this population is important. The purpose of this study was to assess coronary artery wall thickness in young HIV-infected patients who acquired HIV in early life compared to healthy controls using a nov...
